In addition to offering you a cozy residence in the heart of the city, we want to share with our guests some secrets for experiencing Venice in the most authentic way possible. Here is our favorite itinerary, designed for those who don’t know the city, with the goal of immersing you fully in Venetian life.
🍽️ In the morning, treat yourself to breakfast nearby.
Majer in Campo San Giacomo, just two minutes from our place, has three outdoor tables where you can enjoy the unique atmosphere of our neighborhood.
Alternatively, don’t miss the delicious tiramisù at Pasticceria Rio Marin, only a 4-minute walk away.
If you love gelato, Gelato di Natura in Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio will be the perfect stop. 🍦
🛍️ Then head to the local market for fish, fruit, and vegetables at Rialto (Tuesday to Saturday mornings). Take a break at Bar Rialto da Lollo and enjoy a tasty tramezzino (a typical Venetian sandwich).
🍷 Alternatively, for a quick Venetian-style lunch near Rialto:
Stop by SEPA (where you eat standing up — but you’ll be amazed) or Al Portego, both perfect for tasting small traditional Venetian dishes — the classic cicchetti paired with a glass of wine.
📚 If you love unusual places, don’t miss a visit to Libreria Acqua Alta (Calle lunga di Santa Maria Formosa), where books, gondolas, cats, and a terrace merge into a unique mix to explore.
🚶 Walk through Campo San Luca, Campo Manin, and Campo Santo Stefano to reach the Accademia Bridge, where you’ll enjoy one of the city’s most picturesque views! Continue toward the Zattere, stopping at Cantinon Bottegon Da Schiavi for another taste of cicchetti and a glass of wine on Ponte San Trovaso.
Follow the long promenade along the Giudecca Canal to Punta della Dogana for the most scenic photos. The majestic Basilica della Salute will be your next stop, just around the corner.
🛶 Don’t forget to try a short gondola crossing (Traghetto) of the Grand Canal without breaking the bank.
The traghetto departs just after Campo San Gregorio, turning right; the service runs until 5 PM (6 PM in summer), costs €2, and the ride takes only a few minutes.
🌇 Sunset is a must-see in Venice!
Head toward St. Mark’s Square, pass through it, and let yourself be enchanted by the sun setting in the distance from Riva dei Sette Martiri, on the bridge in front of Hotel Ca’ Formenta. Even if you arrive after sunset, the view remains breathtaking. Not to be missed.
In nearby Via Garibaldi, you’ll find plenty of bars for a Venetian aperitif and one of our favorite restaurants, Ai Nevodi.
🍝 After sunset, immerse yourself in the magic of a quieter St. Mark’s Square, far from the tourist crowds.
Rosso Pomodoro near San Marco is perfect for Italian dishes like pizza and pasta with fresh tomatoes. 🍕
Alternatively, if you prefer more traditional dishes, Al Volto (just steps from the Rialto Bridge) or Ai Promessi Sposi near Campo Santi Apostoli await with their specialties.
Or dine at All’Ombra del Leon for a breathtaking view of the Grand Canal.
🍸 For a pre- or post-dinner drink, the Erbaria area with its little bars at the foot of the Rialto Bridge is the perfect spot.
We recommend dedicating the second day (at least partially) to exploring the islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello with a 24-hour ticket (cost: €25).
⏰ Leave early (the earlier you arrive at the main islands, the better your chances of exploring them without the crowds that show up after 10 AM).
Head straight to Burano (and optionally Torcello as well).
On the way back to Venice, stop at Murano if time allows.
📍 Burano is my favorite island, where you’ll find houses painted in the most vibrant colors.
Take line 5.2 from the Riva de Biasio dock (2 minutes from home), get off at Fondamente Nove, then from dock A take line 12 to Burano.
After Burano, if you have time, continue to Torcello for a stunning view from the church bell tower. On your return, let yourself be enchanted by the glass-blowing artistry of Murano.
🌞 Tip: Leave early in the morning (before 9 AM) for Burano to avoid long queues at Fondamente Nove.
The 24h vaporetto ticket allows you to return to Venice from:
Burano (line 12)
Murano (line 4.1)
From there, explore the Cannaregio district or enjoy the sunset from Riva dei Sette Martiri if you missed it on Day 1.
The third day is perfect for exploring the neighborhoods of Santa Croce and Dorsoduro or visiting the most beautiful museums.
📌 Morning itinerary:
Campo San Polo
Basilica dei Frari
Campo San Rocco
Campo Santa Margherita – stop at Pasticceria Tonolo for a sweet breakfast. 🥐
If you prefer savory, don’t miss the famous cicchetti at Cantinon Bottegon Da Schiavi.
🖼️ Afternoon:
Admire the view from the Accademia Bridge
Visit the nearby Peggy Guggenheim Museum
Or climb the Scala Contarini del Bovolo for an unforgettable view.
🏰 Extra time?
Visit the Doge’s Palace in St. Mark’s Square
Or book a tour or unique activity on www.detourist.it.
Venice from the water
All you need is a sunny day (any season works!) to experience Venice like never before — from above, gliding across the water on a vaporetto that few tourists know about.
🚤 Starting point: Piazzale Roma (10 min from Hinc Domus)
Buy a 24-hour ACTV day pass (€25) and start your journey.
Take vaporetto line 2 toward Tronchetto (make sure it’s not headed toward Rialto/San Marco).
Get off at the first stop: Tronchetto.
🚢 Once at Tronchetto:
Walk left about 100m to the end of the pier, where you’ll find the Ferry Boat – Line 17 to Lido San Nicolò.
The crossing takes about 40 minutes, passing through the Giudecca Canal and San Marco Basin – perfect for breathtaking views of Venice. 📸
🏝️ Arrival: Lido San Nicolò
Head right for a 25-minute sunlit walk to Santa Maria Elisabetta, with stunning views of the Venetian lagoon.
⏪ Return:
Take line 5.1 or 5.2 back to Riva de Biasio, just steps from home. Or line 1 to San Marco if you want to see it again, or to the Arsenale to enjoy the sunset from Riva dei Sette Martiri.
